The AAPG Europe Regional Conference 2024, to be held in Krakow, Poland, will provide a platform for the exploration of the many mature European basin units, with a focus on topics such as geothermal energy utilization, carbon dioxide capture, utilization, storage, and hydrogen exploration and storage. Special sessions will be dedicated to European case studies, but contributions from other parts of the world with similar geoscience challenges will be welcomed. Sessions will highlight aspects of the petroleum systems elements, such as salt tectonics, clastic and carbonate reservoirs, and structural geology.

The Technical and Advisory committees are prepared to work on a solid technical programme, incorporating many of the ideas AAPG Europe had for a meeting originally planned to occur in Lviv, and offering Ukrainian colleagues a good chance to attend. The conference will provide a healthy mix of professionals from both the industry and the academia, with collaborations from local and regional universities and research institutions across Europe.

This event will be an ideal opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the rapidly emerging topics in the global energy transition, and to explore the geological setting of the Carpathians and its foreland in Poland, as well as the broader East European Craton including various Ukrainian basins.
