Planning for Closure 2024
Event Information
Sooner or later, any mine will come to the end of its operative life. Regardless of how extended ore reserves are, they will always be finite. This makes mining different from any other activity, and necessitates that closure should be planned from the very early stages of a project, even before the mine design.
The International Congress on Planning for Closure of Mining Operations focuses on what will come after the closure. This central question should guide the whole project definition and design, and should consider that not everything will come to an end with the mine closure. The future use of the land and the future of communities should be the main drivers of the planning.
We invite you to participate in the Planning for Closure Congress in Santiago, Chile, and share your experience on these and other related topics. Become an author and join the conversation!
