Building on the success of the previous conferences in Munich, Germany (2017), Pavia, Italy (2019), and online (2021), Sim-AM will bring together experts from the fields of engineering applications, numerical simulations, computational modeling, and design optimization to explore the potential of additive manufacturing (AM).
AM is a promising manufacturing technology for creating solid structures of virtually any shape, with the potential to revolutionize the market through innovative design approaches and topology optimization. However, the design of AM products is significantly more complicated than for classic manufacturing techniques, and the relevant spatial and temporal scales span many orders of magnitude. As such, Sim-AM will provide a platform to discuss the challenges of multi-physics and multi-scale phenomena, such as mechanical, thermal, and phase change problems, as well as validation and verification methods.
