FinTech and Cryptocurrency is an online course running over seven sessions that aims to explore the opportunities and risks of financial technologies and digital currencies. Participants will gain an understanding of the potential of technology to enable and disrupt existing banking practices, and identify new challengers that disrupt the status quo. The course will cover stories of FinTech enablers and disruptors, applications of data analytics, digitalising currency and cryptography, blockchain and the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin accounts, security and compliance.

The course will provide participants with the latest knowledge in this area, encouraging critical thinking and reinforcing all learnings through a game. Participants will be given free Bitcoin to set up a crypto wallet and make some first payments to their peers. They will gain an understanding of the basics of cryptography, Digital Ledger Technology (DLT) hashes and blocks, and compare Bitcoin to other cryptocurrencies, all while learning about the pitfalls and risks.
